For me there is no comparison from learning off a piece of paper versus a screen. A piece of paper is much easier to comprehend on then on a screen. According to the Insights article “Screen vs. paper: what is the difference for reading and learning?” there are many side effects from learning off a screen. Such as headaches, fatigue and strained dry eyes, and i-pad neck. Also it mentions a study done where students who studied paper did much better than the ones who studied on a screen. From all the proof showing how much more helpful paper is for learning, it seems as if we would continue using the method that is tried and true.
Just as mentioned in the Insights article, I agree that it is much easier for me to remember the text off a piece of paper rather than off a screen. The negatives outweigh the positives on learning off a screen. I understand that technology makes it much easier for everyone to access the content, and for teachers to grade, but why not do what is easiest for the students to gain the most knowledge. Learning off screens are causing more and more problems.
