Does studying right before a test have positive effect on grades? According to a Kansas State University study. Studying right before does not help, it just causes the test taker to tense up. Stress causes the person taking the test to do much worse. Looking over the material right before can also cause the person taking the test to notice something that has not been previously seen before while studying. And just scare them, not to mention it is hard to concentrate. Kansas State says the best thing to before a test is to just relax and calm down your nerves.
I found this article interesting because for me I find it helpful to review the key points right before but not do all my studying. Getting the key points right before helps me to connect the small ideas on the test. This article does make me want to try one test without looking over anything right before just to see if I notice a change. This all seems to be based on preference though. However it seems to be proven that studying right before the test does not help the grade. Does studying right before a test help you? If not do you prefer the night before?
